A unique company story
The Mobilaris of today is the result of an extraordinary growth story. Since our start, we have built an extensive experience and a deep understanding of technology and how to grow business on a global market. We have built several companies that address real problems within different industries, offering innovative solutions that enable new ways of working and operating.
How it all started
Mobilaris has been a part the thriving global indtech scene for 25 years. Our roots date back to the late 90s when a group of people from Telia recognized a market demand for positioning services, and the opportunity to develop a revolutionizing application in this field. With Telia as the first customer, Mobilaris partnered with Ericsson to develop the world’s first location-based service platform launched in 2000.
A few years later, we expanded into non-commercial, public safety applications. A key driver for this was the need for emergency dispatch and rescue services to locate the source of emergency calls.
In 2003, we turned our focus to global public safety challenges, developing a platform for proactive and intelligent crowd safety during emergencies. As the platform evolved, it expanded into national security and law enforcement applications.
The launch of Mobilaris Mining Intelligence in 2013 proved to be a true game-changer for the underground industry and a significant milestone for the company.
Entering new industries
Over the years, we have worked closely with our customers to develop ideas and transform them into products for the international market.
As mining companies and heavy industries sought to digitalize their operations, Mobilaris stepped up to meet their needs. To address safety, productivity, and sustainability, we pioneered real-time, location-based decision-support solutions. With access to real-time information, automated warnings, and site overviews, people working in mines and industrial sites can now make better, faster decisions at the point of action.
Between 2013 and 2017, Mobilaris experienced 800% growth, reorganizing into three subsidiaries targeting different industries. Today, Mobilaris National Security operates independently as Xolaris, while Mobilaris Mining & Civil Engineering was fully acquired by Epiroc in 2021.
Mobilaris Industrial Solutions, established in 2017 when identifying many hard-fought safety and efficiency challenges within heavy industry, has had a period of customer trials and redesigning the product suite. With new products about to be launched and ongoing customer trials with good results, we see great opportunities ahead.
Our most recently established product company, Kite Shield, was launched 2024, and aims to set a global standard for collision avoidance in autonomous and mixed fleet environments, starting in mining operations with the possibility to scale to other industries. The initiative is conducted with key partners in Combitech, NXP and Robotec and is founded by leading mining companies such as Boliden, LKAB, and BHP, this project will ensure industry-specific needs and revolutionize automation. Leading industrial technology
Different environments require different technologies, and at Mobilaris, we build our solutions to maximize customer value. Whether through our own expertise or partnerships with technology leaders. For instance, with our investment in Flasheye, a provider of advanced 3D sensor perception software, we now offer a unique range of capabilities—from detailed asset and worker positioning to spatial 3D perception.
Making room for the future
In 2021, we opened up the doors to Mobilaris Innovation Center, located in the center of Luleå. It is the most sustainable office building in the north of Sweden, allowing us to reduce our environmental impact significantly. Here, we have created an innovative workplace community for tech entrepreneurs, leading transformational companies, and talents ready to take on the biggest challenges of our time.
